This past weekend we had all three grandkids! We had so much fun. We decided to take Ray and Alyssa roller skating since we heard that they had never been before…just not sure how that is possible. Growing up and even when we were in college Terry and I spend so much time at the roller ring! We were excited about getting back in the ring ourselves…has to be like riding a bike, right! Well let me tell you when you haven’t been skating for 20 years it is like learning it all again.
We only had a couple collisions before we even made it to the ring. When getting her skates Alyssa dropped one of them right on my foot and I was wearing sandals…boy did it hurt. But when I got my skates on she was watching me try to skate for the first time and when I got by her I lost my balance and my arms instantly went up in the air and smacked her in the nose. I apologized and hugged her and whispered in her ear, “paybacks are hell” and we both laughed.
So we all have our skates on and Andrew is all set at the game area so Terry decided to take the older kids around the ring….and away they go…Hugging the wall all the way around. One time around the ring and Ray and Alyssa are ready to go home.
Then when it was my turn to go on the ring no one wanted to go with me L Wow it was so hard, how can this be? I use to skate all the time and was rather good at it…now I am a Wall Hugger too???
We were going to rent the kids skating walkers (they did not make them big enough for me or I would have gotten one for Terry and Me!) but one of the instructors came by and said they were really too old for them. She took the kids aside and gave them some instructions and then pulled them out on the floor again. Within the next hour they were doing really well, skating in the middle of the ring!
Terry and I took turns hanging out with Andrew. He had a great time until people started coming and actually using the games which meant he was limited to what he could use.
Over all the trip was a success, I think everyone really enjoyed themselves! And Terry and I did not break or injure anything!!
I am so glad that I hold the Camera...so they didn't get pictures of me falling...lol!
